What Guests and Listeners Think

Text Box: “Congratulations on a great radio show that truly serves the community. Karen uses her show to build community organizing, to educate people, and to show leadership. All these ingredients make it a valuable resource.”

Bruce K. Gagnon

Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Brunswick, ME
Text Box: Our experience at Sound Ecology was a unique one. Karen really listens to
her guests and adds to the quality of the conversation for the guests and the
listeners. So many times when the media is trying to include “diverse” voices,
the writer or inteviewer already has decided on the answers to the questions
they are asking. Not so on Sound Ecology...that’s what it is.. the real
deal...”Sound Ecology.”
Thanks Karen

Text Box: “That was a great show.  Wow! I realized that, yours is the show to which I made two calls this fall: the first radio show calls I've ever made to comment or ask questions.  I feel like I have to thank you for that.  The show tonight made me feel many emotions from helplessness to gratitude, possibility, incredulousness, frustration, and to a certain extent despair.  But it also armed me with a response to the choice we may have never had.”

Sound Ecology celebrated

10 Years on-air this summer!

Thanks to everyone who made the celebration a huge success!

Text Box: “…you got me to create a Press-Activism group in my database and Sound Ecology is the first in it.”
Lu Bauer, CPA
The Balancing Act, Pathways to Financial Freedom
Text Box: Thank you again for all the work that you do to shed some light on the dark corners of our society and its machinations, and for discussing issues that are important and difficult. You do this in a thoughtful and consistent manner that makes them more accessible to the public.
Best wishes for continued success with your wonderful program, Sound Ecology.

Sincerely,
Lesley M. Jones
Television Producer, CTN, Channel 4

Text Box: Sound Ecology is an important voice for issues that are not always on the front page news.  Abolition of nuclear weapons is one such issue.  Most people don't even want to think about it, but it is an issue of critical importance.  Karen D'Andrea has always welcomed me onto her show to discuss what is happening in Congress and explain how people can help stop the funding for more nuclear weapons and how we can work with other nations to step-by-verifiable step, abolish these immoral weapons.

Sound Ecology

Airs 500th Show!

In the past 10 years Sound Ecology has aired a new show just about every week.  Only a couple of shows, including Karen’s interview with Philip Berrigan have been repeated.

“It’s been a real honor meeting people who have sacrificed so much of their lives for the work they do,” said D’Andrea, Sound Ecology’s host and producer.

Shows have covered a wide variety of topics including environmental issues, animal rights/welfare, economic rights/poverty/homelessness, community, racism, war & peace, taxes, politics, and way more.

When asked what her favorite shows were, Karen was pressed to respond saying that all of her guests have been important, but did mention that Philip Berrigan impressed her with his passion and fire.

Sound Ecology aired its 500th show at the end of 2007.  While the exact date is unknown, Karen has taken into account both repeats and shows that were missed because of preemptions.
