Forecast for April 2008
Well we are officially in spring season now, moving toward more light every day. This first month of spring is the month of Aries, a fire sign that shows the force of new growth, like the new buds pushing themselves through the branches to show the birth of nature’s flowering. Remember that astrology shows us the natural movement of nature, its cycles and seasons. The planetary orbits and aspects are symbolic of the ever changing world we live in.
At Aries time of year, when nature begins to come alive, so do we. It is time to move forward in our lives, to take action, to assert our desires, especially so after the 5th of April at the New Moon in Aries. Mars, the ancient god of war, is the ruler of Aries. Coinciding with this month of Aries, the USA will have its own natal Mars, from July 4 1776, ignited by aspect from Uranus this month.
This means that issues having to do with military or other aggressions will surface this month. This Mars aspect will last into next year, but April is a spike time during this overall movement.
My personal observation over the years has shown that aggressions initiated by the USA or against the USA or within the USA increase at such times. The most intense aspects I have seen to the USA Mars happened in 1968, when Dr. King (40 years since his assassination this week) and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated, and when the war in Viet Nam dramatically worsened. The aspects I don’t see as being quite that intense, but nevertheless are still strong.
So watch for more trouble in Iraq again, and/or for war drums to beat for Iran, for issues to break out having to do with the USA military might and the nations in the world’s reaction to such dominating might. Since the USA’s and world’s economy are getting weaker also, we can expect the next several years to be a weakening of the Military Industrial complex that controls so much of the world. The breaking down of that complex will open the world up more fully to real change and eventually more power to the people.
This change is part of the many aspects that will threaten American superpower status in the world over the next several years. We are moving into a New World, one with more equality for all citizens and nations of the world. We can only hope that we elect more and more people who want us to join more as an equal member, not a dominating member, of the world community. This will allow the transition to be more graceful and less painful. The karma we have built for so many years of domination and power abuse cannot be underestimated, but can be lessened with more genuine atonement and humility.
Since John McCain apparently represents a continuation of dominating aggressions and a more militant approach to world affairs, the contrast between candidates Obama and McCain should be stark to voters. We will have a clear choice this November. Obama promises dialogue as equals with other world community members, and of course a great potential for healing our racial wounds begun with slavery of black people from our country’s beginnings.
Of course many people in good conscience will feel they need to vote for a third party candidate more aligned with their deeper and higher principles, and that of course should rightly be honored. But either McCain or Obama will be the next president of the United States, barring some very unpredictable events. And it will behoove us and the world to not pick someone who represents what we are needing to mature beyond now. Our world cannot stand anymore power abuse, anymore death and destruction of innocent people. We must also begin to move beyond the vast disparity between those with privilege and wealth and those who suffer and starve all over the world.
True Evolution demands we move beyond the paradigm of Darwinian survival of the fittest at all costs against others who must lose. It is time to know our true evolutionary survival is now dependent on the recognition that we are all in this together, all in the same family on our precious planet Earth.
Beginning this year and next, more and peoples will be breaking free of domination and control as Saturn and Uranus make opposition to one another. Saturn is security and conserving the status quo. Uranus is liberation and a breaking away from controls. More liberation struggles around the world like the one for Tibet against China or Palestinians in Israel will surface. In your own life it will be increasingly difficult to hold onto old ways or old patterns or jobs or relationships that you do not feel free or authentic within.
The New Moon is in Aries late on the 5th of April and it is time after that to get moving on your life. After this new moon we truly do feel spring fever and want to be more alive and active. No more time for procrastination, for clearing out the cobwebs of winter.
After that new moon and especially after the 10th of April we will begin to see the aforementioned USA Mars aspect begin to ignite. Watch for more bellicose attitudes and for the United States trouble spots in the world to get hotter with danger.
On the 19th the Sun moves into Taurus and on the 20th there is full moon in Scorpio. Things begin to feel more real and insight and depth are easier to access. The last third of April shows everything opening up more and perhaps getting more out of control. Events that you see opening up in the world in late April and early may be important ones that show us more clearly where life is turning for us all.
